Wedding Day Walk Through Workshop and Styled Micro-Wedding 2021

Wedding Day Walk Through Workshop and Styled Micro-Wedding Pro Partners

Like so many things in 2020, our Wedding Day Walk Through Workshop had to be postponed. But, thanks to the amazing persistence of our creation team and the patience of our vendors and attendees through three date changes and several event design changes, we were finally able to hold it in January, almost a whole year after the original date.

The workshop offers photographers of all levels the opportunity to learn how to prep for a wedding day and a chance to photograph a full styled wedding without the the stress of a real wedding day, as well as live Q&A with wedding vendors as instruction and shooting occur over three days. Tiffany, of Jackson Signature Photography, handles the photography elements, we design and plan the event together, and I take care of the styling and design on site at the workshop.

Featured Vendors

It is impossible to pull off a styled wedding without an amazing team of partner vendors, and that was especially true this year with COVID doing us nasty. These wedding pros were troopers through it all, and they helped us create a styled wedding that outdid my expectations in so many ways.

The George Washington Hotel

We could not have asked for a better host for this workshop than The George Washington Hotel. Lia and her event staff were so helpful in the planning process, and the entire hotel staff were the most gracious hosts from the minute we arrived on staff. I especially give a huge shout out to Tim for helping unload all of our cars!

The Washington Room was the perfect timeless canvas for us to create our vintage inspired wedding with modern updates, and the checker patterned floor was the perfect match for our Ultimate Grey accents to the dusty French blue and gold color scheme (which the details on the walls matched perfectly!)

Mel’s Boutique Floral Design

Melissa, owner of Mel’s Boutique, was involved in the design of the styled wedding from the beginning, and her vision for the floral design was key in elevating this wedding to a timeless, modern classic. Roses, anemones, ranunculus, spray roses, and tulips combined to create the perfect combination of flowers to feel winter without being too winter-y.

And the decision to use a combination of smaller arrangements, taper candles, and votives as a luscious mock table runner for the family-style reception table for this micro-wedding perfectly filled that large expanse in the center of the table.

Kimberly Jaymes Bridal

This is the second year we have partnered with Kym’s wedding wear shop on the workshop, and she never fails to provide us with amazing dresses for our models to wear. This year, she loaned us a Casablanca veil and lace wedding dress, a Stella York tulle ballgown style wedding dress, an Ava Couture blingy wedding headband and a Sorella Vita tulle attendant dress.

Mosaic Linen Rental

Susie and her team at Mosaic, Inc. provided the luxurious dusty slate blue velvet tablecloth for the sweetheart table and the napkins for all of the place settings.

Simply Captivating Salon and Bri Mattise, JL Makeup Studio

Our glam squad, Christy, hair stylist and owner of Simply Captivating Salon and Bri, makeup artist at JL Makeup Studio & Beauty Boutique, created the perfect wedding looks that lasted the whole day in the spotlight.

For Marah, Christy created the perfect curly partial up-do to accentuate the bridal headband. For Amanda, she styled the perfect Bridgerton-inspired high bun with gentle curls, which worked with both Amanda’s attendant and wedding dresses.

Bri styled both models with clean, timeless natural makeup looks that highlighted their natural beauty and favorite facial features.

Four Oaks Bakery

Emily, owner of Four Oaks Bakery, is a genius and an artist when it comes to wedding cakes (Period. End of story.), and we were so excited that she teamed up with us again to create this year’s workshop cake.

Like Christy, Emily was feeling the Bridgeton vibes and drew inspiration from the show for her cake design. In fact, she has dubbed this cake “The Daphne.”

No matter who it’s named after, you can’t get much more classic and glam than white and gold sculpted flowers, vines, leaves on a dusty blue backdrop. Even the back of the cake is detail-perfect with tiny pearl button accents.

Pittsburgh Wedding Dance

In addition to being one of our models, Amanda is an amazing professional ballroom dancer and the choreographer and instructor behind Pittsburgh Wedding Dance. She and her hubby gave our photographers a demonstration of dance moves and positions that are best for capturing in photographs and tips on how to best photograph wedding dances. As you can see, she knows what she is talking about.

Also, how perfect was this amazing dress for for photographing dancing?

Station House 7

Jodi has been a huge supporter of the Wedding Day Workshop from it’s conception. Two years ago she jumped in at the last minute to host us in her brand new venue, Station House 7, when we had to change locations. This year she was on tap to loan us her gorgeous vintage Italian tea cart for our cake table, but she also loaned us her gold Chiavari chairs at the last minute when we had to change plans do to delivery issues.

Fresh Cut Prints

Erin is another returning workshop vendor, and once again, she sent us the perfect stationary suites to accent the other wedding details. Classic calligraphy, wax seals, vellum overlays, and the perfect shades of dusty blue and Ultimate Gray are the stars of this stationary show from Fresh Cut Prints.

Eventioneers

Lisa and her Eventioneers rentals team provided the tableware that brought our tablescapes to reality. I’m in love with these stunning Alpine Gold Chargers.

Maisy Cakes Bakes

Cheri was a last minute addition to the vendor line up when I saw her amazingly fun champagne glitter bombs and asked if she would make some for us to play with photographing. In addition to agreeing to make those, she also made us some stunningly gorgeous hand-painted and gold leafed macarons for us to photograph and to eat. And, I can assure you, anything from Maisy Cakes will be delicious as well as beautiful!

And of course, a huge thank you to our models!

A huge thank you to our wedding couple, Marah and Matt, and our attendants, Amanda and John. We absolutely wouldn’t have been able to create a wedding for our attendees to photograph without having people to photograph!

How much would this shoot cost as a real wedding?

See what a styled wedding like this would actually cost you to host as a real wedding - and of course, more stunning photos.
